The Toronto Raptors have signed forward Jalen McDaniels to a two-year, $9.3M deal, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.
McDaniels, 25, is a six-foot-nine forward who was a second-round pick of the Charlotte Hornets in the 2019 NBA Draft.
McDaniels played 80 games for both the Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The four-year pro is a rangy defender with offensive upside. McDaniels has struggled with consistency from three-point range, but shoots better than 80 per cent free from the line which shows he has the potential to develop as a shooter.
McDaniels joins a Raptors team that saw fan favourite guard Fred VanVleet leave in free agency after signing a massive three-year, $130 million deal with the Houston Rockets.
