Free-agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie appears to be heading to the Washington Wizards as part of a sign-and-trade deal, according to multiple reports.
Per The Athletic‘s Sham’s Charania, the 28-year is inking a three-year, $62-million contract with the Wizards, giving them a replacement for Russell Westbrook, who they’ve reportedly agreed to trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.
ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Dinwiddie has been acquired as part of a five-team deal that will see the Wizards send forward Chandler Hutchinson and a 2022 second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs and the Brooklyn Nets get a 2024 second-round selection and a 2025 pick swap from Washington in a transaction that also includes the Indiana Pacers and Lakers.
Dinwiddie only suited up for three games with the Nets last season after suffering a partial tear of his right ACL against the Charlotte Hornets on Dec. 27.
In 2019-20, he put up a career-best 20.6 points and 6.8 assists for the Nets.
