San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected from Sunday night's contest against the Los Angeles Chargers after initiating helmet-to-helmet hit on quarterback Justin Herbert.
The hit occurred in the final minute the second quarter when Herbert was scrambling up the middle and was tackled from behind be 49ers linebacker Fred Warner with Greenlaw, in front, making contact with Herbert's helmet.
After a review, Greenlaw was given a personal foul penalty for unnecessary roughness and was promptly ejected.
Herbert was evaluated right after the play, backup quarterback Chase Daniel came into the contest to replace him.
Herbert would return to the game after halftime.
