The Cincinnati Bengals suffered more than just a loss in the standings on Sunday.
During their 22-17 setback against the Jacksonville Jaguars, star receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins exited with injuries.
Chase is in concussion protocol, while Higgins is day-to-day with an adductor injury, head coach Zac Taylor said Monday, per NFL on Prime's James Palmer.
Chase was hurt when he took a hard hit in the second quarter on Sunday. He caught a pass from Joe Burrow at the Jaguars 29-yard line before cornerback Jarrian Jones grabbed him by the facemask as he tried to make the tackle. Linebacker Ventrell Miller then came in to finish the tackle and hit the sixth-year receiver. Chase hit his head on the turf as he went down with 12:04 remaining in the first half.
Chase was on the ground for a couple of minutes before going into the sideline medical tent. He then went into the locker room before being declared out at halftime. He came into the game with 18 receptions for 185 yards and three touchdowns, and he had three catches for 26 yards during the first 18 minutes on Sunday.
Higgins wasn't available for Cincinnati's final drive, which ended on the Jaguars' 21-yard line. He has 25 catches for 401 yards and one touchdown this season after an 11-catch, 157-yard performance against Jacksonville.
The Bengals (2-2) are in Miami to face the winless Dolphins next Sunday.
