Buffalo Bills fans are giving back to Lamar Jackson's favourite charity after a concussion forced the Baltimore Ravens quarterback out of Saturday's playoff game. The Bills ultimately won the game, 17-3, to advance to the AFC championship.
The charity, Blessings in a Backpack, posted a thank you to the fans on Twitter for contributions both to its Louisville chapter and other U.S. chapters. Jackson played college football at Louisville and has donated to that chapter in the past.
According to WLKY, Louisville's local CBS News station, more than $75,000 from more than 2,500 donations had been raised in the hours after Saturday's game.
Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure "every school-aged child in America has the nourishment needed to learn and grow," according to its website, feeding 88,900 children at more than 1,090 schools in 46 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
This isn't the first time Bills fans have rallied around an opponent's charity after a big game. In 2018, the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation received more than $22,000 in donations from more than 1,000 Bills fans after the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback threw a game-winning touchdown against the Ravens, securing the Bills a playoff spot for the first time in 19 years in the process.
