The Buffalo Bills are ready to move on from C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Buffalo released the 28-year-old safety on Tuesday, the team announced.
The move comes just one day after Gardner-Johnson was reinstated from a one-game suspension for spitting in the direction of Las Vegas Raiders players in a Week 6 game.
Gardner-Johnson was ejected late in the second quarter for unsportsmanlike conduct following an exchange with a group of Raiders players, including tight end Brock Bowers.
He apologized to his teammates immediately following Buffalo’s 33-30 win and also posted a note on social media apologizing to fans.
Gardner-Johnson appeared in six games for the Bills this season, recording 17 tackles and one interception.
Buffalo was his sixth NFL team in eight seasons. He previously played for New Orleans, Philadelphia, Detroit, Houston and Chicago before signing a one-year contract with the Bills in the off-season.
