Bo Nix has finally opened up about his devastating and shocking season-ending injury.
The Denver Broncos quarterback took to social media on Wednesday to share his reaction to the heartbreaking news, but also his confidence in his team's chances going forward.
"What started as one of the most exciting games I've ever been a part of ended with some of the most devastating football news I've ever received," Nix wrote on Instagram. "This is not how I imagined my season would come to an end, but our season has been defined by overcoming adversity and responding to it."
Nix suffered a fractured ankle just three plays before Wil Lutz drilled the game-winning field goal to send the Broncos to the AFC Championship game. Remarkably, the 25-year-old would stay on the field for the following two plays, tossing a deep pass that drew a defensive pass interference penalty before a kneel down.
The injury was a major gut punch to a Denver team that was coming off an emotional win against Buffalo. A back-and-forth affair punctuated by the Lutz field goal gave the Broncos their first playoff victory since winning Super Bowl 50 and represented a win in the Broncos' first home post-season game since the 2015 season.
While frustrated he won't be on the field, Nix still has all the confidence in the team, and shares his head coach's confidence in new starting QB Jarrett Stidham.
"I couldn't be more proud of our guys," Nix said. "I couldn't be more confident in Jarrett. And I couldn't be more excited for what's next."
Stidham, 29, is set to make his first start since 2023 and his first post-season start of his career.
