Dre Greenlaw's season has hit yet another roadblock, this time, one of his own making.
The seventh-year linebacker for the Denver Broncos has been suspended one game without pay by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct, the league announced on Monday.
Greenlaw, 28, made his Broncos debut on Sunday after missing the first six weeks of the season due to a quad injury, but will be sidelined yet again following Denver's stunning comeback win against the New York Giants.
After the conclusion of the Broncos 33-32 victory, Greenlaw was seen chasing referee Brad Allen and, according to the NFL, verbally threatening the official as he tried to leave the field.
The league issued the suspension for a vaiolation of Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(b), which prohibits “the use of abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League.”
Denver signed the former fifth-round pick in March after Greenlaw spent the first six seasons of his career with the San Francisco Giants. Injuries have marred much of his career as he's yet to play a full season since his rookie year in 2019. Greenlaw played just two games for the 49ers last season after tearing his Achilles in Super Bowl two seasons ago.
Greenlaw will be eligible to return to the Broncos’ active roster on Oct. 27, following the Broncos' Week 8 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
