Wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has been placed on injury reserve with a heel injury and will miss the remained of the season, the Arizona Cardinals announced Friday.

Coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that the decision was due to a nagging heel injury that has plagued Brown for the past couple of weeks. The injury caused Brown to leave games against the 49ers and Steelers, and miss last week’s matchup against the Bears.

“He’s been awesome with (battling),” Gannon told reporters. “He tried, man. I love him for it. For the better part of a month, he’s been grinding through an injury. He’s a Ferrari out there and you’re putting unleaded in him when he needs premium.

“He wants to play. He just can’t go.”

The 26-year-old has played in 13 games this season, racking up 574 yards and four touchdowns.

The former first-round WR enjoyed a career-high 1,008-yard season in the 2021 season with the Baltimore Ravens before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals during the 2022 NFL Draft. The move was done to reunite Brown with his Oklahoma college teammate Kyler Murray, but constant injury issues to both receiver and quarterback plagued their reunion.

Brown has played only 26 games in his two seasons with the Red Birds, catching seven touchdowns and gaining nearly 1,300 yards.

He is set to be a free agent in the off-season.
