Apparently, there's no such thing as an ugly victory for Jim Harbuagh.
The pumped-up Los Angeles Chargers coach was not shy about celebrating the "wonderful, wonderful feeling of victory" after his team's 22-19 overtime triumph against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
In fact, Harbaugh told the media the hard-fought win ranked right up there with monumental life events.
"I put it in the discussion with the birth of my seven children, my marriage. In the conversation," the veteran coach said. "Just joyful, joyous."
The Chargers, playing at home in front of what sounded like a pro-Eagles crowd, completed a win over the reigning Super Bowl champs on an interception by Tony Jefferson at the L.A. one-yard line.
It was the fourth interception on the night thrown by Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, and it came just after the Chargers gave the Eagles life after going offside on a Philly fourth-and-four gamble.
Beautiful football, this was not.
"What a team we have, that's my reaction," Harbaugh said. "They refused to lose. just a great, great feeling of winning."
Harbaugh also was full of praise for Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. He went 12-of-26 for 138 yards, one touchdown and one interception while playing with a surgically repaired non-throwing left hand.
"He's a superhero. He's a competitive maniac," Harbaugh said. "He was even stiff-arming guys with a broken hand, he had surgery a week ago ... it felt like we were in a movie and you get to the point where you go, 'OK, this is getting a little bit unrealistic."
The Chargers, who have been hit hard by the injury bug much of the season, remain in a playoff spot at 9-5 after the win.
