The Washington Commanders got some good news concerning their franchise quarterback.
Jayden Daniels won't be placed on the injured reserve after suffering a dislocated elbow in Week 2 and is now considered week-to-week, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday.
Though he's unlikely to be out long-term, Washington will still have to go without Daniels for its Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, with backup QB Marcus Mariota set to lead the way.
According to Rapoport, the team came to the conclusion that Daniels wouldn't need an IR stint after imaging was evaluated and multiple specialists were consulted.
The injury to Daniels came in Washington's Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on a broken play at the end of the first half. Daniels took a snap under centre, and left guard Chris Paul stepped on the quarterback's foot as he backed away from the line of scrimmage. Daniels used his non-throwing arm to brace his fall and perhaps keep the play going, but in doing so, he injured his elbow.
In his two starts this season, the third-year QB has completed 29 of 51 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. He has added 100 yards rushing on 12 attempts.
