The last thing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expected to discuss on his birthday was whether he was making a coaching change.
That was the position Jones found himself in after the Cowboys were dominated 47-9 against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
It was the third loss for Dallas at home and the fourth in a row since losing to the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs last season.
When asked if the team was considering a change in head coach, Jones wasn't too keen on addressing the subject.
"I’m not ready to talk about changes right now," Jones told reporters.
Jones would go on to add that he was not considering a coaching change which means Mike McCarthy's job is safe for now.
Dallas will go into November without a win at home since there are back-to-back games on the road after its upcoming bye week. Six of the last nine regular-season games are at home, beginning Nov. 10 against Philadelphia.
“Very, very (disappointing). We all know you should feel better at home,” owner Jerry Jones said. “It should be an advantage at home, and that’s one of the first things you look at: OK, how come we’re not playing better when we’ve got the advantage against the other team?”
McCarthy joined the Cowboys in 2020 and is in the final year of his contract.
