Dak Prescott has a new best friend: the Dallas Cowboys have signed C Dakoda Shepley from their practice roster.
The signing comes in response to news that starting centre Tyler Biadasz has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against Washington with an ankle injury. It'll be the fourth game Shepley has played for Dallas this season.
The six-foot-five, 290 pound Shepley was picked fifth overall in the 2018 CFL pick by Saskatchewan after playing at the University of British Columbia, where he won a national championship in 2015.
The Windsor, Ont. native signed with the New York Jets shortly thereafter as a free agent, before he was cut, then officially signed with the Roughriders in 2019. He's also had NFL stops at Seattle and San Fransisco.
Sunday's match is critical for Dallas — a win against Washington combined with Philadelphia and San Francisco losses would catapult the Cowboys to the top of the NFC.
Shepley joins defensive lineman Neville Gallimore as the second Canadian on the Cowboys.
