Dre Greenlaw is back in San Francisco.
The veteran linebacker is re-signing with the 49ers on a one-year, $7.5-million contract, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Greenlaw was officially released by the Broncos on Thursday, one year after signing a three-year deal with the club.
The 28-year-old spent his first six seasons with the 49ers, forming one of the league's top linebacker duos alongside star Fred Warner.
But injuries kept following Greenlaw, who was limited to three games in 2021 and two games in 2024. The most notable injury occurred at the start of Super Bowl LVIII, when Greenlaw tore his Achilles running onto the field for the first defensive snaps of the game for San Francisco.
In Denver, it was unfortunately much of the same, too. The University of Arkansas product suffered an off-season quadriceps injury, which delayed his start to training camp, before suffering a different quad injury that caused him to miss the pre-season and first six games of the season.
He would return for the historic Week 7 comeback against the Giants, but was then suspended one game for contacting an official after the final whistle.
Greenlaw then suffered a hamstring injury in Week 16, and missed the final two games of the regular season.
