Fantasy football Week 10 waiver wire: Who to add before your trade deadline

On this edition of Cover 4, Kyle Brandt discusses whether the first place Tennessee Titans are the best team in the NFL, if the Browns better without Odell Beckham Jr. and more.

We’re into November and Week 10 of the NFL season, which means most league trade deadlines are approaching. The right depth addition can keep your franchise in the playoff race, and I hope the below widely available waiver options help out.

Jordan Howard, RB, Eagles
Yahoo! Ownership: 13%
Draft Kings salary: $4,900

Well this is a genuine surprise. Maybe shock is a better word. After it looked like rookie Kenneth Gainwell would take over the Philadelphia backfield, in comes forgotten veteran Jordan Howard off the practice squad.

Two games, three touchdowns, and a 4.5 yards-per-carry average all of a sudden puts Howard at the top of waiver claim lists. He also significantly out-touched Boston Scott and Gainwell this past weekend. Still need more convincing? Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told the media Sunday that he "has to make Howard a permanent part of the offence even after Miles Sanders gets back."

Even though Jalen Hurts runs the ball quite a bit himself, at the moment Philly is committed to utilizing Howard as the lead back. Treat the 27-year old as a RB2 and hustle to get him.

Other RB options to consider: Adrian Peterson (Titans; 64% rostered), Eno Benjamin (Cardinals; 0% rostered)

Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR, Browns
Yahoo! Ownership: 13%
Draft Kings salary: $4,800

Forget OBJ in Cleveland, and light up some DPJ! Unproductive malcontent Odell Beckham Jr. is gone and Donovan Peoples-Jones took full advantage last Sunday in Cincinnati. I was making the case before the season that dynasty/keeper fantasy managers should get as many shares of the talented sophomore as possible. Beckham’s departure now escalates DPJ’s importance.

Make no mistake, the Browns are a run first club. However, Peoples-Jones flashed chemistry with Baker Mayfield in 2020 and when given a chance has popped this season. Three TDs to go alongside a trio of double digit FPT performances, while missing time with an injury shouldn’t be overlooked. The 6-foot-2, sixth-round draft pick is the club’s tallest receiver and best seam stretcher that gives the passing game a new dimension.

I feel bullish that Peoples-Jones can establish himself as a rock solid WR3/Flex option for the remainder of this campaign, and grow into something much more moving forward.

Other WR options to consider: Russell Gage (Falcons; 16% rostered), Van Jefferson (Rams, 43% rostered)

Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons
Yahoo! Ownership: 55%
Draft Kings salary: $6,000

Don’t look now, but Matt Ryan has quietly re-established himself as a viable bye week or injury fill in quarterback for your fantasy squad. Collecting 18.44 or more FPTs in five of the Falcons eight contests, including a big three TD day (two passing, one rushing) last Sunday, is pretty good for a waiver fodder gunslinger.

While “Matty Ice” would obviously like to have Calvin Ridley on the field, weapons like Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson are giving him enough to work with. The former NFC champion has slung 336 yards or more in three of his last four, and gets a juicy matchup against a Dallas defence that allowed a mediocre Broncos attack to post 30 on them.

Other QB options to consider: Teddy Bridgewater (Broncos; 26% rostered), Jimmy Garoppolo (49ers; 28% rostered)

Top defences to Stream for Week 10

● Tennessee Titans (vs. New Orleans Saints)
● Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at Washington)
● Arizona Cardinals (vs. Carolina Panthers)
● Buffalo Bills (at New York Jets)
