There might not be a scarier sound in sports than that of the doink. A noise usually conducive to losing, to a field goal just missing its mark and announcing a loss in the loudest way possible. (Just ask the Chicago Bears...)
But on Sunday night, with the game on the line and a 19-year playoff victory drought hanging in the balance, Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez thanked the powers that be for the doink.
The Washington Commanders ever-so-slightly edged out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Gonzalez called bank, knocking in a 37-yard field goal as time expired to send his team through to the divisional round for the first time since 2005.
And as it does whenever a game ends in dramatic fashion, the sports world reacted in a big way on social media, taking to their keyboards to collectively lose their minds over what, as of yet, was the best game of wild-card weekend.
Here are some of the best reactions from NFL fans after the Commanders pulled through on what will now and forever be known as the "Divisional Doink."
