It's a long-held sporting theory that good teams tend to get the calls from the refs.
Are the Kansas City Chiefs the perfect example?
On Saturday, the officials seemed to give the Chiefs the benefit of the doubt, in particular on two penalties on the Houston Texans for hits on star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The roughing the passer and unnecessary roughness infractions came on drives where the two-time reigning Super Bowl champs combined for 10 points in a 23-14 playoff victory.
Even Texans QB C.J. Stroud, who is usually pretty mild-mannered, agreed the Chiefs' advantage is a real thing.
"One of those things, you know what's up before you walk into the arena," Stroud told reporters after the game when asked about the officiating. "I can't argue with the ref and at the same time play football. I gotta go do my job."
Texans DE Will Anderson Jr. was on the same page as his QB.
"We knew it was going to be us versus the refs," Anderson said post-game.
Overall, the Texans were called for eight penalties for 82 yards, while the Chiefs had four penalties for 29 yards.
It's certainly not the first time fans and football watchers have voiced criticism of the refs during a Chiefs game.
Here's a sampling of social-media reaction to the officiating Saturday.
