Nick Chubb is walking away from the NFL on his own terms.
The four-time Pro Bowl running back announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons on Friday.
"I've known for some time, but I'm finally ready to share that I'm done playing football," Chubb wrote on social media. "I wanted to end my career on a healthy note, along with a winning season, and I was able to do that."
Chubb played for the Houston Texans last season, but made a name for himself over the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns. With the Browns he earned a spot at the Pro Bowl from 2019 to 2022, recording a career-best 1,525 rushing yards in 2022.
But he suffered two season-ending injuries late in his career, including a devastating knee injury in 2023 that required two knee surgeries.
Chubb ends his career with 1,462 carries for 7,349 yards and 54 touchdowns over eight seasons.
