Add another chapter to the storied rivalry between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.
After Green Bay's dominant 31-7 victory on Sunday, Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin had some choice words for Bears receiver Luther Burden III after the second-year wideout stoked the flames entering their Week 5 matchup.
"We see all the little weird stuff they be doing in the media and all the different stuff they be saying. You got guys that never really made a real play in this league talkin' 'bout making somebody quit," Franklin said, per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. "That's weird. We don't do that. He quit today, by the way. He ain't wanna play anymore."
The comments stem from Burden sharing that Bears head coach Ben Johnson delivered a message to the team before the week that "(Johnson) wants to beat them really bad like everyone else in the room, like every Chicago fan. Beat them real bad, and make them quit."
What ultimately played out on the field was surely the opposite of Johnson and the Bears' plans, as Green Bay forced five Chicago turnovers and threw for 358 yards to improve to 3-2 on the season and pull even with their NFC North rivals in the standings.
Burden, meanwhile, was limited to just 47 yards on four receptions from quarterbacks Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent — who continued to fill in for an injured Caleb Williams.
On the other side, Franklin clearly made the most of the bulletin-board material, logging a season-high six solo tackles and forcing his first fumble of the year.
"We focused on ourselves, man," he added post-game. "We ain't really worried about that. We ain't play that in a team meeting or nothing. We just focused on ourselves, being the best version of ourselves and we put out a good performance today because of that."
The rivals won't meet again until Week 15 in Chicago. But in the meantime, they'll continue to chase down the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in the always-competitive NFC North.
