The surging Los Angeles Chargers will play out the regular season without a key linebacker.
Denzel Perryman was suspended for two games by the NFL on Monday for “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players," it said.
Perryman was flagged for unnecessary roughness during the Chargers' 34-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday for a forcible blow to the helmet of receiver Ryan Flournoy after he was already down.
The veteran also received a three-game suspension in 2023 for multiple illegal hits.
Perryman, 33, has appeared in 10 games for Los Angeles this season, recording 30 tackles and three pass deflections.
The Chargers sit second in the AFC West at 11-4. They conclude their season with a home game against the Houston Texans and a visit to the division-leading Denver Broncos.
