Divisional leads will be at stake in two key NFL contests this weekend, starting in Baltimore where the Ravens host the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers as 3.5-point favourites on the Week 8 NFL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Baltimore has taken full advantage of its recent favourable schedule, posting straight-up wins in three straight outings to improve to 5-1 going into Sunday afternoon’s matchup at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Ravens extended their current surge with a 30-28 victory in Philadelphia two weeks ago. Baltimore has also posted dominating wins over Houston, Washington, and Cincinnati, but has produced mixed results against teams currently in playoff contention.
The Ravens opened the season with a crushing 38-6 win over Cleveland, but were outclassed in a 34-20 loss in Kansas City in Week 3, and have covered just once in their past four contests. However, Baltimore has been steady in games following a bye week, winning outright in each of its past four such contests according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
The only remaining undefeated team in the NFL with a 6-0 record, the Steelers have also covered in four straight outings, capped by last weekend’s 27-24 win in Tennessee as 1-point underdogs. Pittsburgh sports a 4-1 SU record in its past five games as an underdog, and has gone 10-3 ATS in its past 13 games while sporting positive odds.
The feeble battle for the top of the NFC East standings heats up on Sunday Night Football as the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys as 7.5-point chalk at online betting sites. The Eagles maintain sole possession of the division lead despite sporting a 2-4-1 SU record, including just one home victory. Philadelphia has also been an unreliable bet at home, going 4-9 ATS in 13 dates since the start of last season, and has failed to cover in each of its past four games at Lincoln Financial Field.
However, things have been far worse for the Cowboys, who arrive in Philadelphia on a two-game SU slide. In addition to surrendering a league-worst 34.7 points per game this season Dallas also remains winless ATS, but has claimed victory in eight of 11 road dates with the Eagles since 2008.
Elsewhere on the NFL Week 8 odds, the Browns look to keep pace in the AFC North standings as they host the Las Vegas Raiders as 2.5-point betting favourites. The Buffalo Bills remain favoured by 3.5 points in their home date with the New England Patriots, while the Titans aim to rebound from last week’s loss as they visit Cincinnati as 5.5-point favourites.
