Already dealing with a handful of injuries, the San Francisco 49ers were bitten again by the injury bug on Friday.
Superstar defensive end Nick Bosa suffered a calf injury at practice Friday and is expected to miss a few weeks, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported.
According to Rapoport, Bosa is out for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, but it remains to be determined if he'll land on the injured reserve.
Bosa joins a growing list of 49ers defensive linemen to sit on the sideline over the past few weeks, alongside Alfred Collins (torn patellar tendon), Sam Okuayinonu (broken foot), James Thompson Jr. (high-ankle sprain), Romello Height (broken hand) and C.J. West (bone chip in knee).
Prior to his injury, Bosa had yet to register a sack this season, but had seven combined tackles, two tackles for loss and one QB hit in two games.
A five-time pro bowler and the 2022 defensive player of the year, Bosa has enjoyed an impressive eight-year career, tallying 64.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, 93 tackles for loss and 169 QB hits in 87 games.
However, he's been plagued with injuries over the last two seasons, playing in only three games last year after suffering a torn ACL in Week 3, and is in line for yet another absence now.
