Kyle Shanahan is locked up in San Francisco for many years to come.
The 49ers quietly signed their head coach to a contract extension in the off-season, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Friday.
Shanahan has been the 49ers' coach since 2017 and has guided them to an 83-67 record during that time. He's additionally brought them to the playoffs five times and twice to the Super Bowl, but they've come up short on both occasions.
The 46-year-old's original contract was believed to be expiring in 2027, per Pelissero.
Shanahan's run with the 49ers is his only experience as a head coach; he had previously spent periods as an offensive co-ordinator for many different franchises.
San Francisco opened its 2026 season with a victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday.
