Questions are swirling around the NFL about the status of veteran running back Alvin Kamara.
After New Orleans reached an agreement with former Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne on a four-year, $52-million deal Monday, it would appear Kamara’s longtime services in the Saints backfield might no longer be required.
As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there’s murmuring around the league about whether Kamara, who’s entering the final year of his deal this season, might be on the trade block.
Kamara was drafted by the Saints in the third round (67th overall) of the 2017 draft. A five-time Pro-Bowler and the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017, the 30-year-old has spent his entire nine-season NFL career in New Orleans.
Last season, in 11 games played, he rushed for 471 yards and one touchdown on 131 carries. He also caught 33 passes for 186 receiving yards.
