Veteran defensive end Derek Barnett has found a new home.
The 30-year-old signed a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced on Sunday.
Barnett is now set for his 10th NFL season after being selected 14th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2017 draft.
He went on to spend six-and-a-half years with the Eagles before he joined the Houston Texans, where he's spent the last two-and-a-half seasons.
In 111 career games, Barnett has 216 tackles, 34 sacks and five forced fumbles. He had five sacks for the Texans in 17 games last season, his highest output since 2020.
The Browns' move to sign Barnett comes as they place fellow defensive end Alex Wright on the season-ending injured reserve with a ruptured Achilles.
Wright was carted off after he went down while working in a 1-on-1 drill against Bills offensive tackle Spencer Brown.
Barnett will now team with Jared Verse, the return in the off-season Myles Garrett trade to the Los Angeles Rams, as edge-rushers on the AFC North club.
Cleveland will also look at Isaiah McGuire and Mike Hall Jr. to start opposite Verse.
