Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Akiem Hicks is expected to miss one month after sustaining a foot injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

According to Schefter, Hicks tore the plantar fascia in his foot, which is the ligament that connects the heel bone to the base of the toes and supports the arch of the foot.

The 32-year-old University of Regina alum was selected 89th overall at the 2012 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He has played for the Saints, the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears before signing with the Buccaneers in June this year.

Hicks earned a trip to the 2019 Pro Bowl after a season with the Chicago Bears where he had a career-high 41 tackles in 16 games.
