The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing wide receiver Cole Beasley to the practice squad with the expectation that he'll be elevated to the active roster soon, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The 33-year-old joins the Buccaneers after spending the past three seasons with the Buffalo Bills. Beasley had 82 catches for 693 yards and a touchdown last season and was cut by the team in the spring following a controversial campaign in which he was critical of COVID-19 vaccinations and the NFL rules about them.
Tampa Bay added the veteran receiver with Mike Evans suspended one game, Chris Godwin sidelined with a hamstring injury and Julio Jones unable to play in Week 2 with a knee injury.
Quarterback Tom Brady reportedly pushed for the team to add another receiver and that Beasley had been on his radar as a potential target.
