Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire won’t play in Sunday’s divisional round game against the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Edwards-Helaire missed practice for most of the week with ankle and hip injuries. He was a limited participant on Wednesday, but did not practise on Thursday or Friday and carried a “questionable” tag into Sunday.
The Chiefs’ 2020 first-round pick started 13 games for Kansas City this year, accruing 1,100 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns. He missed the Chiefs’ final two regular season games.
In Edwards-Helaire’s absence, Le’Veon Bell and Darrel Williams will shoulder the load in Kansas City’s run game.
Schefter reported that Edwards-Helaire should be back for next week’s AFC championship game if the Chiefs advance.
