The Indianapolis Colts are locking up their franchise player.
Three-time Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor has agreed to a two-year, $44-million contract extension with the Colts, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.
The deal is worth a maximum of $47 million and includes $39 million in guaranteed money, ESPN's insider duo says.
It marks the largest third contact a running back has received in NFL history.
Taylor, 27, rushed for 1,585 yards last season along with a career-high 18 touchdowns to earn his second Pro Bowl nod in a row.
It was the fourth time Taylor eclipsed 1,000 yards since the Colts picked the Wisconsin product in the second round (41st overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.
