The Dallas Cowboys will be without Dak Prescott for the remainder of the 2020 season after the starting quarterback had surgery on his ankle and will need about four-to-six months of recovery time, according to NFL Network’s Jane Slater.
Prescott suffered a fracture-dislocation on his right ankle during the third quarter against the New York Giants and was immediately taken to a hospital and had surgery Sunday night. He was visibly emotional as he left the field on a cart as players and coaches from the Cowboys and Giants came over to wish him well.
The Cowboys went on to win the game as backup quarterback Andy Dalton led the team down the field for the game-winning field goal. The former Cincinnati Bengals starter was signed in the off-season to a one-year deal as insurance for Prescott who was going through contract negotiations with the team before signing a one-year franchise tag.
Through his four seasons in Dallas, Prescott has never missed a start. The 27-year old had 1,690 yards passing and nine touchdowns in the first four games of the campaign.
