The Miami Dolphins are placing quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve, keeping him out until at least Week 6, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Tagovailoa suffered fractured ribs in Miami's 35-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. Rapoport adds the Dolphins have hope Tagovailoa will return at some point, but for now, Jacoby Brissett will man the offence.

Brissett came in for Tagovailoa early versus Buffalo and threw for 169 yards and an interception in the thrashing. The 28-year-old began his career with the New England Patriots in 2016 and has spent the last four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. He will make his 33rd career start against the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday.

Tagovailoa, 23, was selected fifth overall by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft after playing three seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He threw for 1,814 yards on a 64.1 per cent completion rate in his rookie season.
