The Philadelphia Eagles are keeping one of their young defensive stars around for the long haul.
Defensive tackle Jordan Davis and the team have agreed to a three-year, $78-million extension, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Saturday.
The deal includes $65 million guaranteed and makes Davis the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history. He was set to play on his fifth-year option.
Davis, 26, has blossomed into one of the game's premier interior defenders after being drafted in the first round of the 2022 draft.
The hulking six-foot-six, 336-pound Davis logged a career-high 4.5 sacks last season, giving him 8.0 over his short career. But his impact reaches far beyond taking down the quarterback.
Last season, Davis ranked fourth in the league with 40 stops, while his six batted balls were second-most.
The University of Georgia product was one of three extension-eligible DTs for the Eagles this off-season joining fellow former Bulldog Jalen Carter and Moro Ojomo.
