Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has hired an investment firm to evaluate a potential bid for the Washington Commanders, the Washington Post reports.
The firm Bezos has hired, New York-based Allen & Company, helped with the sales of the Carolina Panthers in 2018 and the Denver Broncos in 2022.
Bezos, a 59-year-old American, is the world's third-wealthiest person at $119 billion, according to Bloomberg.
The report comes after Dan Snyder and wife Tanya, owners for more than two decades, announced the surprising decision to Bank of America Securities to “consider potential transactions.”
Snyder’s ownership in Washington has come under increased criticism after an investigation found a toxic workplace culture and prompted a $10 million fine and additional reviews that are ongoing.
The rest of the NFL team owners would need to approve a sale, which could come as soon as the annual March meeting in Arizona.
