The New York Jets continue to revamp their defence.
Defensive lineman David Onyemata has agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $10.5 million with the Jets, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Monday.
Onyemata will get $9.65 million in guaranteed money from the Jets, who continue to add to their defence.
The 33-year-old appeared in 17 games last season with the Atlanta Falcons, recording 62 tackles and a sack. Onyemata has spent the past three seasons with the Falcons, appearing in 48 games and starting 47 of them, recording 157 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles and four batted passes.
Onyemata was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints out of the University of Manitoba. He did not play football until he arrived in Winnipeg, winning the 2015 J. P. Metras Trophy as the top down lineman in Canadian university football.
New York has already added linebacker Demario Davis as well as defensive ends Kingsley Enagbare and Joseph Ossai so far in free agency, while agreeing to trade for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
