Mike Tomlin likely would be one of the hottest names on the market if he wanted to coach next season.
It doesn't look like that will be the case, though.
NFL teams have contacted Tomlin to express interest, but he doesn't plan to coach in the 2026 season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.
Tomlin stepped down as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers one day after the team lost 30-6 to the visiting Houston Texans in a wild-card game earlier this week.
Tomlin, 53, did not have a losing season in 19 years as coach of the Steelers, but also lost his last seven playoff games. The Steelers finished with either nine or 10 wins in each of the past five seasons.
The Steelers maintain Tomlin's rights and compensation would be required if another team wanted to hire him. Nine teams, including Pittsburgh, are looking for a head coach.
Tomlin has been rumoured to be considering television broadcasting options for next season.
