The NFL has fined Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. for taunting Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill during Super Bowl LV, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The fine is for $7,815, Pelissero reports.
The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the game. After the Chiefs failed to convert a fourth down, Winfield held a peace sign in front of Hill’s face. The gesture referenced the teams’ game in November, when Hill flashed a peace sign to Winfield, who was the nearest defender as he caught a 75-yard touchdown pass.
After the game, Winfield did not appear to have any remorse for his actions, saying it was “something I just had to do.”
During the game, the Bucs received a 15-yard penalty for Winfield’s actions.
