After their game on Sunday afternoon was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests, the NFL announced that the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs will kick off on Monday instead.
The game has been rescheduled for Monday with kickoff planned at 7:05 p.m. ET. The new addition to Monday Night Football means the originally scheduled game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers has been pushed back to 8:50 p.m. ET.
The NFL said further COVID-19 testing of players and personnel returned no new positives on Saturday and Sunday. Post-COVID exposure protocols are now in effect for both teams.
Patriots starting quarterback Cam Newton and Chiefs’ practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta’amu were among the players added to the COVID-19 reserve list on Saturday.
Earlier this week, the NFL postponed Sunday’s game between the Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers after multiple Titans players tested positive for COVID-19. The game has since been rescheduled for Oct. 25 during Week 7.
The Titans’ outbreak now has 20 positive cases.
