New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman underwent a precautionary knee procedure Thursday and is expected to be sidelined for “some period of time,” including the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The 34-year-old has struggled in 2020, his first season without long-time quarterback Tom Brady behind centre in New England. He has recorded 315 yards on 21 receptions across six games, and his lowest receiving yards per game (52.5) since his injury shortened 2012 season.
Over the course of his 11-year career, all spent with the Patriots, Edelman has collected 6822 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns, winning three Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVP in 2018.
