The New England Patriots will begin their season without one of their top backfield weapons.
Running back TreVeyon Henderson has been ruled out for the team's Super Bowl rematch season opener Wednesday against the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.
Henderson rushed for 911 yards with nine touchdowns, playing all 17 games last season for New England as a rookie. In the post-season, he only rushed for 76 yards over the four games the Patriots played.
New England kicks off the 2026 NFL season against the Seahawks in Seattle Wednesday night. Seattle beat New England last February to win their second Super Bowl title, and will raise a banner before the game.
