The Baltimore Ravens are placing quarterback Tyler Huntley on the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Aditi Kinkhabwala.
Huntley will not be able to play against Cincinnati which means that journeyman Josh Johnson will get the start at quarterback.
Johnson, 35, has been on the rosters of 13 NFL teams. He hasn’t thrown a pass since 2018 with Washington.
Starting quarterback Lamar Jackson is dealing with an ankle injury that forced him to miss practice this week and the team’s Week 15 game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Ravens are signing Kenji Bahar to serve as backup, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.
Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Chris Streveler is on Baltimore’s practice roster, but also is on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Huntley ran the Baltimore offence pretty well against the Packers, throwing for two touchdowns and running for two. The Ravens ruled out guard Ben Powers (foot) for the game and listed receiver Devin Duvernay (ankle) as doubtful. Defensive tackle Calais Campbell (thigh), offensive lineman Patrick Mekari (hand), linebacker Odafe Oweh (illness), fullback Patrick Ricard (knee) and safety Brandon Stephens (illness) are questionable.
