The deal comes immediately on the heels of the Minnesota Vikings locking up Dalvin Cook to a five-year, $63-million contract.
According to Spotrac, Kamara now ranks second among running backs in total contract value behind Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys ($90 million over six years).
Kamara, 25, is one of the most versatile players in the NFL, capable of being as dynamic in the passing attack as he is on the ground.
A 2017 third-round pick out of Tennessee, Kamara exploded for more than 1,500 total yards and 13 touchdowns in his rookie season for the Saints, capturing offensive rookie of the year honours. The Norcross, Ga., native followed that up with nearly 1,600 yards from scrimmage and 18 total TDs in 2018.
Kamara struggled with injury last season but still managed to play in 14 games, rack up more than 1,300 yards and earn a third-straight Pro Bowl nod.
Now signed long term in New Orleans, the dynamic Swiss army knife will be expected to help the Saints make a deep post-season run in 2020.
