The Seattle Seahawks have acquired veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap from the Cincinnati Bengals.
In return for Dunlap, the Bengals are receiving offensive lineman B.J. Finney and a 2021 seventh-round pick.
Dunlap, 31, has been with the Bengals his entire 11-season NFL after being selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, but has recently expressed his desire to move on from the team. On Sunday, Dunlap posted details about his condo in Cincinnati on Twitter in an apparent effort to sell. The tweet has since been deleted.
Dunlap was also seen in an apparent heated discussion with coaches after the team’s loss to the Cleveland Browns.
In 155 games for the Bengals, Dunlap has racked up 82.5 sacks, 227 QB hits and 103 tackles for loss.
Coming off their first loss of the season, the Seahawks address a point of weakness on a team with clear Super Bowl hopes by acquiring Dunlap. While the Russell Wilson-led offence ranks as the NFL’s best through seven weeks, the defence has given up more yards than any other team and has just nine sacks – tied for fourth-fewest in the league.
Due to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols, Dunlap will not be able to suit up for the Seahawks this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers but could debut on Nov. 8 at the Buffalo Bills.
