The Houston Texans are moving on from running back Joe Mixon.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday that the veteran will be released as Houston continues to revamp its running game.
The move comes after the Texans reportedly acquired David Montgomery from the Detroit Lions for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, along with fourth- and seventh-round picks.
Mixon did not appear with the Texans last season after suffering a foot injury. Houston acquired Mixon from the Cincinnati Bengals traded Mixon to Houston for a seventh-round draft pick back in March 2024.
In his only season with the Texans, Mixon rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 36 receptions for 309 yards and a touchdown in 14 games.
