The Houston Texans have locked down running back Joe Mixon to a three-year, $27 million contract extension, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Mixon's new deal also includes $13 million guaranteed.
The Cincinnati Bengals traded Mixon to Houston for a seventh-round draft pick after signing Zack Moss to a two-year, $8 million contract. The Bengals were planning to release Mixon if they could not find a trade partner.
Trading or releasing Mixon saved Cincinnati $6.1 million on their salary cap.
The 27-year-old started in all 17 games for the Bengals in 2023 recording 1,034 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 257 carries. He also had 52 catches for 376 yards and three more touchdowns.
Houston averaged 96.9 yards on the ground during the 2023 season with Devin Singletary leading the team with 898 yards on 216 carries.
