Jayden Higgins' season may be over before it even started.
Houston Texans sophomore wide receiver Jayden Higgins has reportedly suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Wednesday.
Higgins, 23, was a second-round pick by the Texans last year and played in all 17 games (10 starts) as a rookie. The Iowa State product racked up 41 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns in that span.
His six end-zone grabs were tied with Nico Collins for the team lead, while Higgins ranked third on Houston for receiving yards.
According to Rapoport, Higgins was primed to take on a bigger role for the Texans and become a key target for fourth-year QB C.J. Stroud. Instead, Higgins will have to focus on recovery while the Texans try to make the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season and overcome three straight divisional round exits.
