Trey Smith is cashing in.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Smith are putting the finishing touches on a four-year, $94-million deal that will make him the highest-paid guard in the NFL, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the deal contains $70 million in guaranteed money.
Smith and the Super Bowl champs have been negotiating a long-term agreement after the Chiefs applied the franchise tag to the 2024 Pro Bowler in February, guaranteeing him at least $23.4 million and starting the countdown to the 4 p.m. ET franchise tag deadline on July 15.
Smith is a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs, part of their back-to-back winning teams in 2023 and 2024.
The fifth-year pro was selected in the sixth round by Kansas City at the 2021 NFL Draft and has since appeared in 67 games for the Chiefs.
