Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud remains in concussion protocol but hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game at Tennessee.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans took multiple questions about Stroud's status for the game on Friday but would only say that the quarterback's health was more important than the game.
"It's all about the health of C.J.," Ryans said. "I would never put a guy out there who isn't ready to go."
Stroud was injured in a Week 14 loss to the Jets after a hit in the fourth quarter by Quinnen Williams. Davis Mills replaced him against the Jets, but the Texans haven't said whether Mills or Case Keenum will start against the Titans.
Stroud was the seventh-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and has quickly emerged as a star quarterback in the league. The 22-year-old has thrown for 3,631 yards this season with 20 touchdown passes and just five interceptions.
The Texans, with a 7-6 record, are among six AFC teams tied for the final two playoff spots.
