Jordan Addison may have been the hero for the Minnesota Vikings in their 21-17 victory against the Cleveland Browns in London, but he was in the doghouse to start things off.
The Vikings receiver was notably absent in the first quarter, and it was later revealed that it was a decision by head coach Kevin O'Connell because Addison missed walkthrough this week.
"Those types of things aren't in alignment with our standards and (I) wanted to make sure he was held accountable for that. But at the same time he knows that," O'Connell told reporters after the game. "I thought he handled it professionally. He spoke with the team to let them know that whenever I gave him the opportunity to go in the game, they could count on him, and he makes the game-winning catch."
Addison finished with five receptions for 41 yards and the game-winning touchdown in just his second game of the season. The 23-year-old missed the start of the season while serving a three-game suspension after being arrested for a DUI charge.
All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson made it clear that he was not impressed with his teammate's actions.
“I’ve just got to do better keeping (Addison) under my wing and making sure that he has his head on straight,” Jefferson said.
The Vikings earned their second win in their international schedule, improving to 3-2, after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers last week in Dublin, Ireland. They also earned the Week 5 win with J.J. McCarthy sidelined as Carson Wentz threw for 236 yards and a touchdown.
