The Pittsburgh Steelers entered Monday’s game against the Washington Football Team with an 11-0 record, but two key plays dashed their hopes of a perfect season.
First, it was Washington wide receiver Cam Sims who hauled in a pivotal one-handed catch that set up a go-ahead field goal.
But there was still plenty of time for Ben Roethlisberger and Co. to march down the field and salvage a victory. Jon Bostic had other ideas, coming up with a clutch interception to set up another field goal and give Washington a 23-17 lead with just 17 seconds to play.
Pittsburgh couldn’t channel any Oakland magic in those waning seconds and walked off the field in dismay.
