Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver exited Thursday’s season-opening game against the Los Angeles Rams with an ankle injury, but told reporters afterward that he doesn’t think it will be serious concern.

Oliver was hurt on a fourth-down gamble by the Rams in the second quarter. He returned on the second drive of the third quarter but then limped off the field.

A first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft (ninth overall), Oliver is a key part of the defensive line for a Bills team that was the pre-season favourite to win the Super Bowl.

Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reported Oliver was wearing a walking boot after the game.

Oliver had 41 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble for the Bills last year.

The Bills won the game 31-10.
